Rainbow Club launched its new program for young adults, My Active Moves, this year at just the right time for Sutherland Rainbow Club member James.
James and his mum, Julia, were looking for an exercise program to improve his core strength and overall fitness combined with a group class to enable him to socialise and connect.
“My son James had just turned 18 and had been attending Sutherland Rainbow Club since he was 7, We wanted him to continue with some activity and were thrilled when we were offered My Active Moves as an alternative.” – Julia, mother of James.
James met with My Active’s Exercise Physiologist, Kayla, who designed a personalised aquatic exercise program for James based on his goals and abilities. Every Sunday James connects with other members his age and can join in with the fun activities in the water.
James uses the hoist at Swimmerz Academy Caringbah to access the pool and an aquatic belt gives him the independence and support in the deep water.
Mum, Julia reports that since joining My Active Moves, James has gained a lot more independence in the water.
“We were thrilled that there was provision for young adults like James to get into the pool and develop skills and fitness with others of their age group.”
