National Volunteer Week: Building Stronger Communities
This Volunteer Week celebrates the incredible individuals who give their time and energy to Rainbow Club Australia. Whether assisting in the pool or supporting our major events, volunteers are essential in helping us provide inclusive, safe, and welcoming experiences for children with a disability.
Volunteers play an important role alongside our amazing teachers, helping our members feel supported and encouraged. But their impact extends beyond the pool. They help us build strong local communities—bringing families, teachers, and members together to create spaces where everyone feels connected and supported.
Amazing volunteers like Aiden from Newington, Nyla and Chloe from Auburn, and many others give their time each week to make a real difference.
We also recognise those who support our major events, including the Malabar Magic Ocean Swim and the Squad Carnival. These events reflect the strength of our community and are made possible through the dedication of our volunteers.
Volunteer Spotlight: Aiden Yang – Newington Rainbow Club
Aiden Yang has been volunteering at Newington Rainbow Club since August last year. He shared his experience, and the personal growth volunteering has brought him:
“Volunteering at Newington College Rainbow Club offers a uniquely rewarding experience, allowing me to connect with an extraordinary mix of people—from dedicated teachers and enthusiastic students to supportive families. This role not only provides the chance to witness the remarkable progress of Newington’s students but also enables volunteers to play a critical part in integrating the club’s members. By offering a helping hand and fostering social connections between members and teachers, volunteers contribute significantly to creating an inclusive and nurturing community.
My time at the club has been transformative in a relatively short period. Since last year, I have enhanced my social skills while observing our students’ substantial growth and development. Beyond the immediate rewards, this role has also given me a competitive edge as I consider pursuing my teacher training. The hands-on experience of working with children with additional needs has proven invaluable.”
