When Acacia competed in her first school swimming carnival, it was a proud moment for her whole family.
“We were so happy she could compete alongside the other children,” said her mum, Catherine.
It was a milestone supported by the skills Acacia has been developing at Muswellbrook Rainbow Club, where she is taught by Samantha.
“Acacia has improved so much with teacher Sam over the past few months,” Catherine said. “She loves coming to swimming, is retaining her skills and keeps getting better.”
Benefits beyond the pool
But the changes Catherine has noticed are not limited to Acacia’s swimming.
Since joining Rainbow Club, Acacia has become more confident in herself and developed a better understanding of what her body can do. Catherine has also seen improvements in her strength, focus and ability to communicate with others.
“I cannot recommend Rainbow Club enough. It’s not just about swimming. It’s social and helps her confidence in and out of the water.”
For Catherine, Samantha’s patient and encouraging support has helped Acacia continue building her skills at her own pace while enjoying every lesson.
“Rainbow Club has been a blessing to us. I would recommend it to any family looking for a place where their child can learn to swim while also developing confidence, strength and social connections.”
A milestone worth celebrating
For some Rainbow Club members, taking part in a swimming carnival may once have felt out of reach. With the support of their teachers, members can develop the skills and confidence to participate in new experiences, both within their local communities and at Rainbow Club events.
Our all-inclusive Rainbow Carnival gives members of every level and program the opportunity to take part in swimming and novelty events in a supportive environment where participation is celebrated.
Acacia’s first school swimming carnival was more than a single achievement. It showed how the skills developed during her weekly lessons could help her take part in experiences beyond Rainbow Club.
We are proud to see Acacia continuing to grow and discover what she can do.
Thank you to Catherine for sharing her family’s experience, and to Samantha and the Muswellbrook Rainbow Club team for supporting Acacia each week.
