Personalised Classes

Rainbow Moves provides personalised swimming classes which are essential for children who have

  • physical disabilities that require extra support while in the water and need the full attention of a teacher or
  • individuals who might be petrified of the water or have extreme sensory or behavioural needs.

Rainbow Moves is designed to help a child’s confidence increase as the personalised attention can enable a child to progress more quickly and many go on to participate in group classes. While these lessons are personalised, each stage contains a strong focus on social participation.

Social participation for children with disabilities can significantly improve

  • their sense of belonging
  • confidence
  • development of social skills
  • mental well-being
  • opportunities to form friendships

Assessment, Certification and Program Pathways

✔ Termly Assessments: conducted using clear assessment criteria
✔ Digital Certificates: awarded when a swimmer moves through to the next stage
✔ Participation Certificates: given twice yearly to celebrate progress

As your child’s confidence, movement, and goals evolve, they may transition to a program that best supports their progress:

  • Swim the Rainbow: A structured program focusing on water safety and stroke development, with a clear pathway to Rainbow Squads.
  • Active Moves (Ages 16+): For older members who want to continue movement-based aquatic activities, promoting fitness, independence, and social participation.

Transitions are based on individual readiness and program availability, with teachers guiding families through the process.

Qualified teachers

Rainbow Moves is taught by our dedicated and qualified teachers. Each teacher has access to new and improved Rainbow Moves lesson plans, personalised member equipment, support from a team of Occupational Therapists when extra support is required and a growing online platform of educational videos and resources.
