Lead Teacher

As a Rainbow Club Lead Teacher, with a few extra hours each week, you have a unique opportunity to really make a difference in the lives of children with a disability.

In addition to helping children with a disability learn to swim, a Lead Teacher plays a pivotal role at each Club by ensuring the Club operates smoothly. The Lead Teacher supervises other swim teachers employed at the Club, welcomes new members and assesses children’s ability when they join and as they progress through our unique Swim the Rainbow program. The Lead Teacher is also responsible for all safety matters around the pool and is paid an above award rate of $46.73 per hour.

Rainbow Club offers our Lead Teachers a package of benefits to reward them for their commitment and dedication. These benefits include: above award rates, free professional development opportunities, free CPR courses and the opportunity to be nominated for Rainbow Club’s Aqua Teacher Award. We also support our teachers with online resources and inpool equipment.

Position requirements:

  • Only applicants who have the basic teaching swimming qualification from AUSTSWIM, Swim Australia or Royal Life Saving will be considered.
  • In NSW A Working With Children (WWC) number and National Disability Insurance Scheme Workers Check (NDISWC) is essential.
  • In QLD Working With Children (Blue Card) and National Disability Insurance Scheme Workers Check (Yellow Card) is essential.
  • A willingness to help children with a disability reach their potential.
