Become a swim teacher

Free for Rainbow Club Members and Friends

Are you over 15 years of age* and interested in helping children with a disability learn to swim? Train to Teach is our special intensive program offered to Rainbow Club family, friends and those who show a keen interest in working within the disability community. Through this program, Rainbow Club will sponsor you to complete a Swim Teacher training course, through a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and become a qualified swim teacher for free. Teaching for Rainbow Club provides invaluable experience, great pay, and regular weekend work in your local area.

*Participants cannot be licenced until they are 16 years of age

Please note this will be a one day face-to-face course.
*All applicants will need to apply for an NDISWC one you start teaching with Rainbow Club (this is not needed for attending the training course). To apply please register using our business name; Rainbow Club Australia OR registration number 4050000653
*All applicants over 18 will need a WWC
*Applicants who are not Australian citizens must hold a valid visa with working permissions for a minimum of 1 year.
*All applicants will need a USI (Unique Student Identifier) to attend the training. A USI is your individual education number. If you do not have one, you can apply online https://www.usi.gov.au/.

We will do our best to place you at your preferred club but we do require you to be flexible to meet the needs of Rainbow Club. Please select your first preference of club location to work at*

I confirm the following requirements for the Train to Teach program *

I am able to commit the time needed for inpool practical training hours (approx. 25 hrs) to enable me to obtain my licence within 6 months and understand that this training is unpaid.

I will commit to teaching as a paid teacher for 36 shifts after obtaining my license, noting each term is 9 weeks in length . I understand that I will have to reimburse $380 to Rainbow Club if I do not fulfil my commitment.

I acknowledge that upon acceptance into this training program, I will be obligated to sign a trainee agreement. In doing so, I commit to reimbursing course costs in the event of non-completion of specified requirements.

If I have not completed my licence and started to work at a Rainbow Club within 9 months (without valid reason), or if I decide after the course that I am no longer interested or willing to continue, I will be required to reimburse Rainbow Club for the course fees($380).

I understand that I will be eligible for a $200 bonus if I have completed my first shift, as a qualified teacher within 3 months of my course date.
