As a Lead Teacher at Rainbow Club, you have a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children with a disability. This role goes beyond teaching swimming—it’s about leadership, care, and creating a safe, supportive environment for our members.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide mentorship and support to Swim Teachers, coordinate rosters, and ensure safe, effective lesson delivery aligned with the Swim the Rainbow and Rainbow Moves
• Monitor and evaluate lesson quality, provide feedback to teachers, and ensure consistent adherence to our programs and safety standards.
• Support teacher development through on-the-job training and monitoring of our trainee progress (Train To Teach).
• Act as the central point of contact for staff and families, communicate updates clearly, and collaborate with management
• Build strong relationships with members and their families, respond to concerns professionally, and maintain a positive Club culture.
• Ensure accurate member assessments, modify lessons to suit individual needs, and promote steady progression through the Swim the Rainbow levels.

Swim Teachers are compassionate, committed professionals who help children with a disability develop confidence, independence, and life-saving swim skills. You’ll deliver one-on-one lessons using our tailored swim programs, adapting to each child’s unique needs in a fun, safe environment.

• Plan and deliver engaging, safe, and effective lessons using our tailored swim programs
• Adapt teaching techniques to suit individual abilities, learning styles, and needs of children with a disability
• Follow guidance from the Lead Teacher and club management, including any updates to lesson structure
• Understand and work towards each child’s individual swim goals
• Maintain confidentiality of all member and staff information

• Lead Teachers: $46.73 per hour
• Swim Teachers: $36.23 – $40.43 per hour (plus super)

You must have a current swim teaching qualification through either:

• AUSTSWIM
• Swim Australia
• Royal Life Saving NSW or Life Saving Victoria

• NSW & VIC: Working With Children Check (WWCC) and NDIS Worker Check
• QLD: Blue Card and Yellow Card (NDIS Worker Check)
• ACT: Working With Vulnerable People Check and NDIS Worker Check

• Above award hourly rates
• Free CPR and professional development courses

• Recognition programs (e.g., Aqua Teacher Award)

Application Process

1. Phone Interview
   A brief conversation to get to know you, discuss your experience, and answer any questions you may have.
2. Paid Trial Shift
   Get a feel for the Club environment—meet our members, team, and see the Swim the Rainbow and Rainbow Moves program in action. You won’t be assigned members yet; instead, you’ll shadow and assist a qualified teacher.
3. Optional Paid Second Training Shift
   If needed, we’ll arrange an extra shift to give you more time to become confident and familiar with our program
4. Feedback & Job Offer
   Following your trial(s), we’ll provide feedback. If it’s a good fit, you’ll be offered a regular teaching line with continued support.

• Additional Phone Interview with Programs & Quality Manager
A follow-up conversation to assess your skills, experience, and overall suitability for the Lead Teacher role.

Onboarding Process- once position is accepted

1. Paid Induction Shift
   This includes a 30-minute briefing, followed by your first session with a group of members. Throughout your transition, you’ll continue to receive support from experienced staff.
2. Paid Online Training Modules (3.5 hours)
   Complete a series of self-paced modules to build your understanding of Rainbow Club, our safety procedures, and what’s expected in your role.
3. 4-Week Review
   A check-in to see how you’re settling in, provide feedback, and offer any additional support or training you may need.

Additional Steps for Lead Teachers Only:
• Online Induction with Programs & Quality Manager (1 hour)
An in-depth session to prepare you for the Lead Role

• Poolside Induction with Development Manager
  Practical, on-site support to help you confidently take on your leadership responsibilities.
